Guest Speaker at SLOLA Meeting in Venice

Seed Library of Los Angeles (SLOLA) is dedicated to preserving an open-pollinated, non-GMO supply of seeds, regionalized to the Los Angeles basin, and educating the public on how to save those seeds. In September, I was invited to be their guest speaker at the monthly meeting held at Venice High School Campus. September also happened to be Childhood Obesity Awareness Month so I wanted to use this opportunity to bring awareness the the connection of health, gardening, and seed saving. My topic of presentation was "Discover Nutrition & Gardening Resources in Your Community." Since green spaces like school and community gardens play an important role in childhood obesity prevention, we discussed how to make these spaces more available to children and their families.
